Tempe, Arizona | May 1, 2026 – Since 2023, Renewal by Andersen of Arizona has partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona to support mentorship experiences for children across the Valley.
Big Brothers Big Sisters pairs children, known as Littles, with trusted adult mentors, known as Bigs, who encourage and support them as they grow. Through this partnership, Renewal by Andersen of Arizona created Little’s BIG Dream, an initiative that brings Littles’ wish lists to life.
For Emma, a spa day became the highlight of six years of outings with her Big Sister, Heidi. For Amara, a visit to a local sanctuary meant learning about reptiles and meeting Spud the capybara.
For Elias, a scenic helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon became more than a Little’s BIG Dream. With his Big Brother, Greg Christensen, by his side, he faced his fear of heights. Christensen shared that on the ride home, Elias told him, “I never in my life thought I would ever get a chance to do something like that.”
The experience led to a conversation about setting goals and imagining the future. “We made a connection, created a memory, and broadened his view of what his life can be,” Christensen wrote. “Thanks for giving us the opportunity.”
Little’s BIG Dream was recently highlighted by ABC15 Arizona’s Uplifting Arizona series. The feature showed how experiences like these can help strengthen the bond between Bigs and Littles and encourage more people to consider becoming mentors.
“Volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters has changed my life,” said Felicia Chiverton-Wren, Service Director of Renewal by Andersen of Arizona. “I’ve been matched with my Little for almost two years, and during that time I’ve watched a shy little girl find her confidence and her voice. While I hope I’ve made a positive difference in her life, the truth is this experience has changed me more than I ever expected.”
The dream outings may grab attention, but mentorship is what can truly change a young person’s life. As Big Sister Heidi Morrison wrote in a thank-you note to RbA Arizona, “I believe that it takes a village to teach our kids about life. This village is made up of friends like you.”
